Adelboden
The picturesque mountain village of Adelboden sits on the edge of 185km ski area, shared with the neighbouring spa village of Lenk. Adelboden offers an extensive range of slopes stretching across the valley. The alluring combination of sunshine and snow will ensure a relaxing atmosphere, reinforced by the lack of queues and good snow, to give visitors a traditional Swiss skiing experience.
Arosa
With two well linked ski areas, 70kms of pistes and varied activities for non skiers, this is an excellent choice for families and skiers of all levels. A truly all round ski resort uncrowded, wide open blue and red runs dominate the ski area, however there are some challenging black runs and a half-pipe for advanced skiers and boarders.
Davos
The world famous resort of Davos combines over 325kms of marked skiing and an efficient free bus and train service links the six ski areas which include the royal Klosters and the Madrisa areas. This lively town has plenty to delight the non skier including scenic train rides, chic boutiques and a bustling nightlife.
Flims
Flims is a traditional village on the Alpine Arena with 220km of pistes, three nursery areas and guaranteed snow on the Voreb glacier .Flims Dorf is lively with shops, restaurants and bars, whilst Flims Waldhaus (1km away) is a serene mountain village.
Grindelwald & Wengen
Set amidst the spectacular scenery of the Jungfrau mountain range with the breathtaking Eiger as their backdrop, Wengen and Grindelwald offer over 158kms of well marked pistes. The two charming villages remain totally unspoilt and boast a long tradition of hospitality and friendliness.
Lenzerheide
Ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers, the skiing is varied with long interconnecting runs and excellent access from the lifts, including two new six person chairs, and free buses. The resort also offers over 80kms of marked winter hiking trails and five separate toboggan runs, some floodlit. There is also an excellent sports centre with ice skating, curling and swimming available. Après ski is varied, lively and traditional.
Les Diablerets
Les Diablerets is a beautiful, unspoilt mountain village of comfortable hotels, wooden chalets and traditional farm buildings, dominated by the majestic Diablerets Glacier. Every year visitors return to enjoy the combination of authentic mountain charm and high quality skiing.
Leysin
Located high on a sunny plateau, Leysin is the ideal choice for beginner and intermediate skiers. Originally an old agricultural village, it has now developed into a modern ski resort with easy access to the pistes helped by the free shuttle bus and it is one of the friendliest villages in Switzerland to boot.
Saas Fee
The beautiful Saas glacier known as 'the Pearl of the Alps' and the snow covered peaks of Switzerland's highest mountain 'The Dom' form a unique backdrop to this charming village. There is superb skiing and bustling nightlife and the centre is entirely car free. Saas Fee is an unspolit resort full of Valasian farmhouses and pretty buildings, giving a taste of the 'real' Switzerland.
St. Moritz
St. Moritz offers 350kms of piste which are all well connected by train and bus (included in the lift pass). There are two areas, St. Moritz Dorf, the sophisticated town with its fashionable shops and the quieter St. Moritz Bad, located next to the spectacular frozen lake.
Verbier
Verbier is justifiably famous as one of the most outstanding ski areas in Europe and lies high in a sunny, well-sheltered position in the heart of Switzerland's southern-most Alps. There's a vast array of tempting shops, as well as many restaurants and lively bars. The ski area is vast, high and varied with over 400kms of runs (including Thyon, Veysonnaz and Nendaz) and a glacier at 3,330m, providing even the most proficient skier with an almost unlimited number of challenges.
Villars
The charming village of Villars is located on a sunny plateau with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, low level chalets and a bustling centre with modern amenities. The rack and pinion railway winds its way through the resort and up to the ski area which is linked to neighbouring Les Diablerets.
Zermatt
Spectacularly situated beneath the majestic Matterhorn, Zermatt has everything to offer in the way of fantastic skiing, picturesque surroundings and a lively nightlife. On arrival, by train from the village of Täsch, you will find the vibrant village centre entirely car-free, with only electric taxis and horse drawn sleighs, and streets packed with beautiful shops and boutiques. |
